BPharm / equivalent grade
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts and services particularly related to a pharmacist:
Provision of pharmaceutical care taking responsibility for the medical needs of patients and being responsible for meeting those needs, which will include, among others, the following functions:
Assessment of a patient’s medical needs by determining the indication, safety and efficacy of treatment.
Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner, and in compliance with legal requirements in accordance with SAPC.
Fixed errors in scripts rejected by medical assistance
The dispensing of any prescription drug or substance prescribed by a person authorized to prescribe drugs.
Providing information and advice to anyone regarding the use of the medicine.
Determination of patient adherence and monitoring to ensure patient medication needs are met.
The provision of therapy initiated by the pharmacist
The composition, handling, preparation or packaging of any drug or programmed substance, or its supervision.
The manufacture or supervision of any drug or scheduled substance.
The purchase, acquisition, import, retention, possession, use, release, storage, packaging, repackaging, supply or sale of any drug or scheduled substance, or the supervision of this one.
Application for registration of a drug in accordance with the Law on Medicines and the Law on Pharmacy
Stay on top of changes in healthcare procedures and claims and distribution requirements.
Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports requested by the clinic manager and follow-up appointments
Explain all health care costs to patients.
Process all documents for accurate submission of medical aid requests
Guarantee the authorization of chronic drugs, against HIV / AIDS and oncology
Maintain customer profiles in the system
Merge profiles locally and UCS must be notified to merge profiles centrally
Take note of any message in the customer profile and take appropriate action
Report low / depleted stock levels and stock errors to the clinic manager
Facilitate half-yearly inventories
Exercise control over inventory, cash and assets
English and second language: reading, writing and speaking
Good communication, listening
Baseline dosage and important drug interaction
Customer service / focus
Supervisor experience and ability to lead by example
Ability to train other staff
Great attention to detail

Computer skills – MS Office
Knowledge of retail / FMCG operations

Knowledge or experience in Unisolv, SAP and E-Scripting
Medicines and family planning and complementary medicine
Special employment conditions:
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council
Be willing and able to work retail hours
Controlled room temperature, safety, limited space, health and safety, stocks at risk
Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
Valid driver’s license and own reliable means of transportation
South African citizen; or valid work permit
Clear credits and criminal history
